EARLY MORNING RAID: Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested more than 20 suspects during a raid on a short-let apartment complex in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The operation was carried out on July 27 at Mariton Apartments, Ikate, Lekki, as part of the agency’s ongoing crackdown on suspected financial crimes.
According to an EFCC source, the operation was intelligence-driven, with investigators searching multiple apartments, questioning occupants and recovering items considered relevant to ongoing investigations.
“The operation was intelligence-driven. A number of suspects were arrested and investigations are continuing. We are profiling those arrested and examining items recovered during the operation,” the source said.
The EFCC has not released the identities of those arrested or disclosed the specific offences under investigation.
While some residents alleged that certain apartments may have been used for suspected internet-related crimes, the EFCC has not linked any individual or apartment owner to any criminal offence at this stage.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with recovered materials being analysed to determine whether criminal charges will be filed against any of the suspects. 🚨🇳🇬
