 Police Intercept Arms Shipment in Katsina, Arrest Suspected G¥n-Runners






The Katsina State Police Command has intercepted a large cache of weapons and arrested two suspected g¥n-runners transporting the arms from Jigawa State to Safana Local Government Area in Katsina.


According to Nasir Mu’azu, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, the arrest took place around 4:35 a.m. when officers on patrol from the Ingawa Division stopped a blue Volkswagen Golf (Registration: RSH 528 BY ABJ) along the Ingawa–Karkarku road.


The suspects, Abdulsalam Muhammad (25) and Aminu Mamman (23), both from Baure village in Safana LGA, were found with a deadly arsenal that included:

One General Purpose Machine G¥n (GPMG) with breach number Z8826,

1,063 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 ammunition, and

232 rounds of 7.62 x 69mm PKT ammunition.


Investigations revealed the weapons originated from Hadejia in Jigawa and were destined for Safana. Authorities say the interception marks a major breakthrough in efforts to disrupt arms supply chains fueling cr+minal activities in the state.


The state government commended the police for their vigilance and pledged continued support to security agencies in their fight against b@nditry
