Obasa Was Never Qualified To Be Speaker Of Lagos House Of Assembly In First Place- Adetokunbo Pearse

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Adetokunbo Pearse has criticized the conduct of Mudashiru Obasa, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, describing it as embarrassing.

Speaking during an interview with News Central TV, Adetokunbo Pearse argued that Obasa was never qualified to serve as Speaker in the first place.

More than 30 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly had impeached Mudashiru Obasa when he was away from the country, replacing him with Deputy Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.

While addressing the development, Adetokunbo Pearse expressed disbelief that Obasa, who held the position of Speaker for about 10 years, has behaved in a manner unbefitting of such a role. He further alleged that Obasa was merely a political operative installed by influential figures to serve their own interests.

He said, "We have too much rubbish in our system. The way this speaker has comported himself is just embarrassing. He doesn't seem to be a man who has been the speaker for 10 years. No wonder Lagos is standing still. Obasa was never qualified to be the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly in the first place. He was a political jobber used by the powers that be."
