Domestic Ab¥se: Stepmom Arrested For B£ating her 9-yr-Old Stepdaughter To D+ath in Enugu

The Nigeria Police Force and the Enugu State Government have taken action against a woman, Mrs. Ogechi John, over the alleged k+lling of her 9-year-old stepdaughter, Ogechi Amanda John.

The suspect, said to be from Oderiko in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, was reportedly arrested on Monday after allegedly b£ating the child to d+ath at their residence in the Nchatancha area of Emene, Enugu.

Residents of the area claimed the incident happened around 3 p.m. on Sunday, adding that the deceased had allegedly suffered repeated m@ltreatment from her stepmother before the tragic incident.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development in Enugu State, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, condemned the act and assured that the government would pursue justice.

“It is on record that the Governor Peter Mbah administration has zero tolerance for any form of child ab¥se, let alone child hom+cide.

“So, we swung into action on learning about this tragedy to ensure that the suspect was arrested.

“But it doesn’t end there. We will be pressing for thorough and expedited investigation to ensure that justice is not just done, but done really fast.

“Nobody should take another’s life and certainly not the life of any child in Enugu State. We condemn it in totality,” she stated.
