Prison Break: 12 Inmates Escape from Kogi Prison, Government Vows Action

A jailbreak in Kogi State has seen 12 inmates escape, sparking serious security concerns in the state.

Authorities have confirmed that one fugitive has been re-arrested, while efforts are ongoing to capture the others.

Information Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo called the incident “unfortunate” and questioned how the escape happened without structural damage to the facility. He hinted at possible internal sabotage and assured a full investigation.

Governor Usman Ododo has ordered security agencies to tighten measures and prevent future breaches. Citizens are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Anyone caught harboring an escaped inmate will face legal action.

“There’s no cause for panic,” Fanwo assured. “We are prioritizing the safety of lives and property.”
