"I've done alot of work in Africa but the best reward I've had is to see afrobeats finally getting the global recognition it deserves. I started singing Nigerian artiste when afrobeats was still in it's little beginnings. I signed P-Square and some other artistes but the artiste I'm most proud of  ever signing is Wizkid. 

Wizkid single handedly broke afrobeats internationally. When I signed Wizkid and I was trying to partner him with other American labels, a lot of labels thought it was Reggae. Most people in America didn't know the difference between afrobeats and reggae till Wizkid came into the spotlight. It was like pulling nails and teeth to get the labels to understand that afrobeats wasn't reggae and all it needed to get Americans to love afrobeats was Wizkid. 

I'm really excited to see the growth of afrobeats globally and every afrobeats artiste of this generation should be grateful to Wizkid." Akon
