KC Luxury Files Suit Against NDLEA, Demands N190 Million in Damages.
Lagos socialite and businessman Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as "KC Luxury," has filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), demanding ₦190 million in damages.
The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos by his lawyer Abdulakeem Labi-Lawal (SAN), challenges his continued detention without formal charges following his arrest on August 13, 2026, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
He's demanding N100 million for the unauthorized taking and circulation of his photographs and videos while in custody, which his team argues exposed him to public ridicule and pre-judged him before trial, ₦50 Million for unlawful arrest and prolonged detention without formal arraignment and ₦40 Million for the invasion of his privacy, specifically regarding his home in Banana Island and his telephone.
The family claims NDLEA operatives searched his Banana Island residence without a valid search warrant and found no narcotics or incriminating material.
The lawsuit demands the immediate return of seized high-value assets, including a blue-strap Patek Philippe Nautilus watch, an Audemars Piguet watch, Hermès bags, a Louis Vuitton travel box, an iPhone 15, a Lexus RX350, a 2024 Toyota Hilux, €8,000, and £3,000.
The defence notes that the businessman suffers from severe acute asthma and requires medical attention that cannot be managed within the detention facility.
Addressing the lawsuit, Justice Friday Ogazi of the Federal High Court has ordered the NDLEA to produce KC Luxury in court and show cause why he should not be admitted to bail. The agency has been given five days to respond to the fundamental rights suit, with the next major hearing scheduled for September 9, 2026. Concurrently, another division of the court recently granted the NDLEA a 30-day detention extension to conclude its investigations.
