Nigerian Army Arrests Man for Impersonating Retired Major General in Kaduna
Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a man in Kaduna State for allegedly posing as a retired Major General.
The suspect was reportedly apprehended on Wednesday by personnel of the 312 Artillery Regiment deployed at the Strike Force Base in the Sabo area of Kaduna. According to military sources, the arrest followed credible intelligence that led troops to track and pick him up at about 9:14 a.m.
He is accused of impersonating retired Major General A.T. Ibrahim, a claim that prompted his immediate detention for investigation.
“The individual was arrested for allegedly impersonating Maj.-Gen. A.T. Ibrahim (rtd) and is currently in military custody undergoing preliminary investigation,” a source said.
Security sources said the suspect is being held in military custody while preliminary investigations are ongoing. He is expected to be handed over to appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution after initial military procedures are concluded.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the alleged impersonation or whether the suspect used the fake identity to carry out other offences.
Investigations are continuing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and whether additional individuals may be involved.
