Enough of the K+llings in the North — Sultan of Sokoto.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has strongly condemned the ongoing wave of v+olence and k+llings in Northern Nigeria, stating that traditional rulers are more concerned about the insecurity than the country’s political leaders.

Speaking during the 7th Executive Committee Meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council in Maiduguri, the Sultan said the monarchs have united to demand an end to the bl++dshed across the region.

“We’ve issued several statements condemning these senseless k+llings, but how many more times must we speak before something changes? It’s time we act,” he said. The Sultan stressed that traditional rulers are committed to working with political and security leaders to restore peace.

He emphasized that they are not in competition with state governors but are focused on helping them solve the crisis. He expressed concern over reports of renewed Boko Haram activity in Borno and reaffirmed the monarchs’ resolve to address all security concerns during their closed-door meeting.

While calling for collective action from citizens, political leaders, and religious figures, he warned against profiling any tribe or religion, noting that bad elements exist in every group. Highlighting recent att@cks, including the k+lling of over 100 people in Plateau State and others in Sokoto and Kebbi, the Sultan decried the fact that the perpetrators often go unp¥nished.

“There’s insecurity everywhere, even in developed countries,” he noted, but stressed that Nigeria must urgently address its internal crises to stop the rising de@th toll.
