Wike demanded ₦6 billion monthly from Rivers State's allocation.
I told him ₦6 billion was too much; if we did that, we would have nothing left. That was where our problem started. — Sim Fubara.
Chief Anabs, a well-respected elder statesman in Rivers State, revealed the cause of the rift between Wike and Fubara during a national TV interview.
In Fubara's words:
Before Wike left, the state's revenue was always ₦12 billion. When I took over, Rivers State's IGR increased to ₦25 billion.
From the ₦12 billion Wike was declaring, he still wanted ₦6 billion, leaving the state with only ₦6 billion out of ₦25 billion IGR. That is the real bone of contention."
